Radiation Therapy
With this type of treatment, you lie on a table as a machine moves around your body, directing energy beams at your cancer cells. You typically have to undergo radiation treatment five days a week for at least a few weeks. Some of the side effects of radiation therapy include painful and frequent urination, and erectile dysfunction.

It is possible to remove a prostate gland through surgery. Incisions for this surgery can be made in the abdomen or between the anus and scrotum. Removing the prostate gland through surgery does come with some risks including erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence.

With chemotherapy, drugs are administered through a vein or in pill form. These drugs work to kill rapidly growing cancer cells. This type of treatment is best for men with prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body.

It is possible to get rid of prostate cancer by freezing the cancer cells. During this process, small needles are inserted in the prostate. A cold gas is put in the needles to freeze the surrounding tissue. Then, another gas is put in the needles to heat up the tissue.

Hormone Therapy
Hormone therapy can help stop the body from producing testosterone. Decreasing the amount of hormones can cause the cancer cells to die. There are several side effects of this type of therapy including hot flashes, weight gain, and loss of bone mass.

As you can see, there are many ways of treating prostate cancer. These treatment options might not be painless and can come with several side effects, but they can get rid of prostate cancer for good.
